Benton County is a county in the US state of Oregon in the United States . At the 2000 census , the county had 78,153 people and a population density of 45 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Corvallis . The county is named after Senator Thomas Hart Benton .

The county had 78,153 people as of the 2000 census . There were 30,145 households and 18,237 families. The population density was 45 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 89.16% white, 0.84% ​​African American, 0.79% Native American, 4.49% Asian, 0.24% residents from the Pacific island area and 1.92% from others ethnic groups; 2.56% were from two or more races. 4.66% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
