Bramberg is part of the municipality of the Lower Franconian town of Ebern in the Haßberge district .

geography

The church village is located in the eastern part of the district in a valley through which the Sulzenbach, which flows into the Albersdorfer Mühlbach near Bramberg, flows. About two kilometers northwest of the village is the 500 meter high Bramberg with the same name and a ruined castle . The state road 2778 from Königsberg in Bavaria to Ebern and the district roads HAS 60 to Hohnhausen and HAS 48 to Kraisdorf lead past the place.

The village cemetery is located about one and a half kilometers northwest of the village at the foot of the Bramberg. It was the church cemetery of the old Magdalenenkapelle in the former village of Vorberg.

history

The place was probably named after the old high German plant bräma ( blackberry bush ), because it was a less demanding plant on the Bramberg with its basalt dome .

In 1108 Bramberg was mentioned for the first time indirectly with the witness "Heriman de bramberch" in a document from "Wolframmus de abenpere". In 1244 Ludwig von Raueneck gave the Bishop of Würzburg a fiefdom in Altenbramberg. In 1365 the Würzburg Bramberg Monastery pledged to Gerlach von Hohenlohe.

In 1862, the rural community of Bramberg was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian District Office Ebern . The rural community consisted of two places, the church village and the 2.5 kilometers away wasteland Brambergermühle. In 1871 it had 178 residents, all of whom were Catholic, and 36 residential buildings. Bramberg belonged to the district of the Catholic parish of Jesserndorf, 2.0 kilometers away . A Catholic denominational school stood in the place. In 1900 the community of 325.83 hectares had 178 residents and 37 residential buildings. and in 1925, 192 people, 186 of whom were Catholics, lived in 33 residential buildings in Bramberg.

On April 11, 1945 an attack by the American Air Force destroyed 6 houses, 16 barns and 10 stables and killed one resident. A total of 17 residents lost their lives in World War II .

In 1950 the church village had 217 residents and 29 residential buildings. It belonged to the Catholic and Protestant parishes in Jesserndorf. In 1961 Bramberg had 189 residents and 35 residential buildings. In 1970 there were 168 and 1987 197 inhabitants and 54 residential buildings with 67 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform, the district of Ebern was dissolved and Bramberg became part of the Haßberg district. Two and a half years later, on January 1st, 1975, it was incorporated into Ebern.

Bramberg was formerly a climatic health resort . The Bramberg Motorsport Club was founded in 1970 and organizes motocross competitions on its own racetrack in Bramberg .
