The bush mill is a water mill with an undershot water wheel .
geography
The Buschmühle is located in the Busch district in the middle town of Wegberg in the Heinsberg district on district road 10. The mill building is on the left side of the Mühlenbach. In front of the mill is a large mill pond, the water level of which is 64 m above sea level. NN lies. Above the Buschmühle are the Holtmühle and the Vollmühle , below are the Schrofmühle and the Molzmühle . The care and maintenance of the water is the responsibility of the Schwalm Association , which is based in Brüggen .
Waters
The Buschmühle is located on the Mühlenbach, which begins in Herrath and flows into the Schwalm at the Molzmühle . The Mühlenbach has a length of 13,475 m. The beginning of the stream is 77 m above sea level. NN, the mouth at 61 m above sea level. NN. Between Kipshoven and Holtmühle, the Mühlenbach forms the city boundary between the Heinsberg district and the city of Mönchengladbach . The upstream mill pond is crossed by the mill stream in an east-west direction. Originally five mills were operated with water power on the Mühlenbach.
history
The Buschmühle is the only mill on the left side of the Mühlenbach. It belonged to the Beeck domain in the Duchy of Jülich . In 1715 the Buschmühle was a fiefdom of the Wickrath lordship and the imperial barons of Quadt, the Vogt in Mönchengladbach receives the income. In 1822, instead of a pan mill, the oil mill with a wedge press was given a pounder to crush the oilseed, which allowed grinding for more than 5 hours a day. After the Second World War , the Buschmühle is the only and last mill in Wegberg that still produces oil. Electric power was used from 1946 until it was shut down in 1953. The last miller here is Wilhelm Symes. The grain and oil grinder has been completely preserved and has been functional since the restoration. Between the two world wars, the pond was used for punting and fishing .
