Charles Edward Creager (born April 28, 1873 in Dayton , Ohio , † January 11, 1964 in Muskogee , Oklahoma ) was an American politician . Between 1909 and 1911 he represented the third constituency of the state of Oklahoma in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Creager attended Ohio public schools and then Northern Indiana University . He then got into the newspaper business. During the Spanish-American War he was a staff sergeant in an infantry unit in the US Army . Between 1899 and 1904 he published several newspapers in various cities in Ohio. In November 1904, Creager moved to Muskogee in what is now Oklahoma, which was then in Indian territory . There, too, he was involved in newspaper and publishing. He later published other newspapers in Oklahoma state.

Politically, Creager became a member of the Republican Party . In 1908 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in the third district of Oklahoma, where he replaced James S. Davenport from the Democratic Party on March 4, 1909 . After losing to Davenport in the following elections, Creager was only able to complete one term in Congress until March 3, 1911 . After his tenure in Congress ended, Creager was employed by the Indian Authority. He was also in the oil business until 1934. Since 1934 he lived in retirement in Muskogee. He died there in January 1964 at the age of 90.
