Glenn Lee English Jr. (born November 30, 1940 in Cordell , Washita County , Oklahoma ) is an American politician . Between 1975 and 1994 he represented the sixth constituency of the state of Oklahoma in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Glenn English attended the public schools in his home country and then between 1960 and 1964 Southwestern State College in Weatherford . Between 1965 and 1971 he was a non-commissioned officer in the US Army reserves . Then he got into the gas and oil business. He has also worked in the insurance industry and the real estate market.

Politically, English became a member of the Democratic Party . In the California House of Representatives , he became an administrative clerk for his party's faction. Between 1965 and 1968 he held the same position in the US House of Representatives. Between 1969 and 1973 he was chairman of his party in Oklahoma. In 1974 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he replaced John Newbold Camp from the Republican Party on January 3, 1975 . In the following years he was confirmed in his office. He remained a member of Congress until his resignation on January 7, 1994 .

His resignation was because he CEO of in Arlington ( Virginia -based) National Rural Electric Cooperative Association was (NRECA).
