Clem Rogers McSpadden (born November 9, 1925 on a ranch near Bushyhead , Rogers County , Oklahoma , † July 7, 2008 in Houston , Texas ) was an American politician .

McSpadden studied at the University of Redlands in California and the North Texas Agricultural College in Arlington . He then attended the University of Texas at Austin and finally Oklahoma State University in Stillwater . At the latter he received his Bachelor of Science in 1948 . From 1944 to 1946, McSpadden served in the United States Navy . In 1954 he was elected to the Oklahoma Senate , to which he was a member until 1972. He then moved to the United States Congress and represented his home state in the US House of Representatives as a Democrat from January 3, 1973 to January 3, 1975 . In 1974 he tried in vain for the nomination as Democratic candidate for governor, which instead went to David Boren .

McSpadden died of cancer on July 7, 2008 at the age of 82. He was a great-nephew of Will Rogers .
