Elmer L. Fulton

Elmer Lincoln Fulton (born April 22, 1865 in Magnolia , Harrison County , Iowa , † October 4, 1939 in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma ) was an American politician . Between 1907 and 1909 he represented the 2nd Congressional constituency of Oklahoma in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1870, Elmer Fulton moved with his parents to Nebraska , where the family settled in Pawnee City . Fulton attended public schools in his new home and then Tabor College . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1895, he began working in his new profession in Pawnee City.

In 1901 Elmer Fulton moved to Stillwater , Oklahoma Territory , where he also practiced as a lawyer. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party . After Oklahoma joined the Union, he was elected to the US House of Representatives in the second constituency of the new state. There he exercised his mandate from November 16, 1907 to March 3, 1909. In 1908 he was defeated by the Republican Dick Thompson Morgan .

After his tenure in Congress , Fulton worked as an attorney in Oklahoma City. Between 1919 and 1922 he was the Assistant Attorney General of Oklahoma. Then he worked again as a lawyer. Elmer Fulton died in Oklahoma City in October 1939, but was buried in St. Louis . He was the younger brother of Charles William Fulton , who sat in the US Senate for the State of Oregon between 1903 and 1906 .
