Wesley E. Disney

Wesley Ernest Disney (born October 31, 1883 in Richland , Shawnee County , Kansas , † March 26, 1961 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician . Between 1931 and 1945 he represented the first constituency of the state of Oklahoma in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Wesley Disney attended Kansas public schools and then graduated from the University of Kansas Law School. After his admission to the bar in 1906, he began to work in Muskogee, Oklahoma in his new profession.

Disney became a member of the Democratic Party . From 1911 to 1915 he was a district attorney in Muskogee County and between 1919 and 1924 he was a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives . During the impeachment proceedings against Governor Jack Walton in 1923, he was chairman of the negotiating committee ( Board of Managers ).

1930 Disney was elected to the US House of Representatives in the first district of Oklahoma, where he replaced Charles O'Connor on March 4, 1931 . After he was confirmed in each of the following six congressional elections, he was able to exercise his mandate in Congress for a total of seven legislative periods up to January 3, 1945. In 1944 he did not run again. Instead, he unsuccessfully applied for his party's nomination for the US Senate .

After retiring from Congress, Disney worked as a lawyer in Washington and Tulsa . He died in March 1961 in the federal capital Washington.
