Manuel Herrick (born September 20, 1876 in Perry , Ohio , † January 11, 1952 in Quincy , California ) was an American politician . Between 1921 and 1923 he represented the eighth constituency of the state of Oklahoma in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1877, Manuel Herrick came to Greenwood County , Kansas with his parents . He acquired the necessary knowledge himself and then began to work in agriculture. In 1893 he settled on the so-called Cherokee Strip in what was then Oklahoma Territory . There he dealt with livestock and other agricultural activities.

Politically, Manuel Herrick was a member of the Republican Party . In 1920 he was elected as their candidate for the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he replaced Charles Swindall on March 4, 1921 . Since he was no longer nominated for the following elections, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1923 .

After his time in Congress was over, Herrick returned to his private business. In 1933 he moved to California. There he was also involved in mining. In the following years he applied for a return to Congress several times without success. Manuel Herrick died in January 1952 on the way to one of his mines. He got caught in a snow storm and initially disappeared without a trace. His body was not found in the snow until February 29.
