Christa Gottschalk
Christa Gottschalk (born December 2, 1927 in Dessau , † April 9, 2018 in Leipzig ) was a German actress .
Life
Christa Gottschalk studied from 1946 to 1948 at what was then the State University of Music, drama department in Leipzig . Franz Kutschera was responsible for acting lessons , from which she also received individual lessons. In the second semester she was allowed to play her first role in the theater. From 1949 to 1951 she was engaged at the Schauspielhaus Leipzig and then moved to the German National Theater Weimar , where she played almost all roles in world literature. In 1953 she was brought to the Deutsches Theater in Berlin by Wolfgang Langhoff . It was here that Christa Gottschalk met Willy A. Kleinau , with whom she then lived and in whose fatal car accident in 1957 on the autobahn near Merseburg she was in the car, but got away with bruises and abrasions.
In 1958 Christa Gottschalk moved back to the theater in Leipzig and, in addition to her acting activities, was also a lecturer for stage studies and artistic speech at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater. When the new director Wolfgang Engel terminated the contracts with the actors in 1996, he kept them as a guest actress. By 2009 she played over 180 roles, a large part of which was seen in 100 to 150 or more performances. In 1997 she moderated the UNICEF gala in the Gewandhaus Leipzig . Another important part of her work was her readings, which took her all over the Federal Republic.
Christa Gottschalk was buried in the Leipzig South Cemetery.
