Ivan Desny (actually Russian Иван Николаевич Десницкий , Iwan Nikolajewitsch Desnizki ; born December 28, 1922 in Beijing , then Republic of China ; † April 13, 2002 in Ascona , Switzerland ) was a French - German actor of Russian-Swedish origin.

Life

Desny was born in Beijing in 1922 as the child of a Russian who worked as an embassy secretary at the French embassy, ​​and a Swede. He spent his early youth in Tehran , Washington, DC , Paris and Brisbane . He came to France in 1926 and later studied law. During the Second World War Desny was sent to a German labor camp. After the war he attended a diplomatic school. He appeared on a student stage, was discovered by Pierre Fresnay and committed to the theater. From the end of the 1940s Desny was mainly only active in film. He played prominent roles in Bernhard Wicki's Die Eroberung der Zitadelle (1977) and in Rainer W. Fassbinder's Die Ehe der Maria Braun (1979).

In 1956 and 1957 he played the main male role in the films by Falk Harnack , Anastasia, the last daughter of the Tsar and Wie ein Sturmwind . His partner in both films was Lilli Palmer . Later he turned u. a. 1974 Das Gewissen ( Touch Me Not ) with Lee Remick , Michael Hinz , Ingrid Garbo and 1993 Tatort - Dangerous Friendship .
