history

Place name

The name Armstorf could be explained via Arnesdorp as the village of Arn . The assignment of the old names Ismeresthorp maior (1111–1116) to Armstorf is controversial.

history

It is disputed whether today's Armstorf was previously called Ismerstorpe, which was first mentioned in 1112. At that time there were seven courtyards, which are represented in the municipal coat of arms by seven diamonds. The land had to be made arable; for this purpose trees were felled and bushes burned. Then the land was plowed with the help of horses and then used for agriculture.

Several generations lived under one roof in a large hall on the farms of that time. The animals were also housed here to warm each other. The food supply was ensured by self-planted potatoes, grain, beets, vegetables and fruits, as well as collected fruits.

It was heated with wood and peat , which was extracted from the moor. At that time there were very few doctors and so the outbreak of an illness could wipe out entire families. Due to the shortage of doctors, it could also happen that the hairdresser or other professions worked as a dentist.

At the time of the duchies of Bremen and Verden Armstorf belonged to Börde Lamstedt and the judicial district of Warstade , during the Napoleonic period to the canton of Bremervörde of the Kingdom of Westphalia . From 1852 to 1859 belonged to the Office Bremervörde and 1859-1885 for office east of the (until 1866 Hanoverian , then Prussia ) Landdrostei Stade , 1885-1932 Prussian district Neuhaus an der Oste , from 1932 to 1977 the county Land Hadeln . Since January 1, 1969 Armstorf has been part of the joint municipality of Börde Lamstedt. With over 20 farms, it is dominated by agriculture and livestock is still an important source of income today. The place became known for its numerous successes in fistball .

Blazon : Divided in blue by a silver wavy bar , above: seven golden diamonds (4: 3); below: a golden horn with the visible mouthpiece turned to the right . "
Justification for the coat of arms: The wavy bar symbolizes the old village moat, in the vicinity of which people settled. The diamonds remind of the settlement that originally consisted of seven farmsteads. The horn points to the historic village horn that still exists today.
