The place was mentioned in 1361/64 in the castle counts Salbuch as "Eckenperge". At that time, the place was under the castle counts office Schauerberg . After its dissolution, the place came to the newly created office Emskirchen. According to a description of the Nuremberg area from 1502/06, the place was under the Münchaurach monastery .
Towards the end of the 18th century there were 17 properties in Eckenberg (4 Huben , 3 Halbhuben, 1 Gut, 6 Gütlein, 2 Tropfgütlein , 1 Tropfhaus). The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Fraischvogteiamt Emskirchen-Hagenbüchach . The Hagenbüchach Vogtamt held the village and community rulership and the lordship over all properties .
In 1810, Eckenberg came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the community edict, it was assigned to the Oberreichenbach tax district formed in 1811 . In 1813, the rural community Eckenberg was formed, to which Borbath , Ebersbach and Oberalbach belonged. With the second community edict (1818), the rural community was split into
- Rural community Ebersbach with Oberalbach (and Trabelshof of rural community Oberreichenbach );
- Rural community Eckenberg with Borbath.
The municipality of Eckenberg was under the administration and jurisdiction of the Markt Erlbach district court and the tax office of Neustadt an der Aisch in the financial administration . From 1862, Eckenberg was administered by the Neustadt an der Aisch district office (renamed the Neustadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ) and from 1856 by the Markt Erlbach rent office (1920–1929: Markt Erlbach tax office , from 1929: Neustadt an der Aisch tax office ). The jurisdiction remained until 1879 with the district court of Markt Erlbach, 1880–1959 district court of Markt Erlbach , from 1959 district court of Fürth . The municipality had an area of 7.636 km².
