The Oberliga Hessen 1981/82 was the fourth season of the Hessian Football Association conducted Oberliga Hessen as amateur league .
The FSV Frankfurt , last year's relegation from the second division, was by four points champion before descended also from the second division VfR Bürstadt OLI . Frankfurt qualified for the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga , in which they were the first in the southern group to secure promotion. Bürstadt took part in the German amateur championship final, in which the team lost in the first round to the second representative from Werder Bremen .
VfB Gießen , last year's promoted SG Hessen Hersfeld , FC Hanau 93 and FSV Bergshausen were relegated to the subordinate state leagues . In return, CSC 03 Kassel from the North Season , SV Wiesbaden from the Middle Season and FC Erbach from the South Season rose as the respective season champions.
