Although Yves Giraud-Cabantous competed in races for 30 years, he was never able to reach the absolute top. To a large extent, it was because he often had to start on inferior equipment. In 1925 he began his racing career on a Salmson , with which he gained experience in the first few years mainly in smaller French races. In the 1930s, he focused on sports car racing and came second in the 1938 Le Mans 24-hour race .
Between 1926 and 1932, his company Yves Giraud-Cabantous produced 28 automobiles. After retiring from racing, he built a transport company that he ran until his death in 1973.
