history
Girrehnen (Güldengrund)
The southern part of today's Griwino settlement was once called Girrehnen and was an independent village. Between 1874 and 1945 it was the official seat and gave its name to an administrative district , which from 1939 was called "District Güldengrund" - until 1922 belonged to the district of Ragnit , then to the district of Tilsit-Ragnit in the administrative district of Gumbinnen in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 Girrehnen had 254 inhabitants.
On September 30, 1928, the neighboring village of Meschken was incorporated. The population rose to 283 by 1933 and was still 265 in 1939. On June 3, 1938, the village was renamed Güldengrund for political and ideological reasons to avoid foreign-sounding place names . In 1945 the place came to the Soviet Union within the north of East Prussia as a result of the war .
Girrehnen / Güldengrund district (1874–1945)
Between 1874 and 1945 there was a separate district of Girrehnen, which was renamed on April 18, 1939 in "District of Güldengrund". Originally 14 villages were incorporated, in the end there were ten:
