Watutino ( Russian Ватутино , German Gaidszen , 1936 Gaidßen , 1936 to 1938 Gaidschen , 1938 to 1945 Drosselbruch , Lithuanian Gaidžiai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Neman in Nemansky District .
Geographical location
Watutino is located in the very south of the Rajon Neman, 18 kilometers southwest of the district town of Neman (Ragnit) and three kilometers south of Schilino (Szillen) on the municipal road 27K-069 from Schilino to Uljanowo (Kraupischken / Breitenstein) . The next train station is Schilino on the currently inoperative Chernyakhovsk – Sovetsk (Insterburg – Tilsit) railway .
history
The former Gaidszen called village was 1874 to 1945 in the District Szillen incorporated (in 1939 "District Schillen") that until 1922 the county Ragnit , then to the district of Tilsit-Ragnit in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged. In 1936 the spelling of the name was initially changed to "Gaidßen", but then until 1938 "Gaidschen" was written. From 1938 to 1945 the village was officially called "Drosselbruch".
In the meantime associated with northern East Prussia of the Soviet Union , the place was renamed "Watutino" in 1950 and at the same time classified in the village soviet Schilinski selski Sowet in Sovetsk Raion . From 2008 to 2016, Watutino belonged to the rural community of Shilinskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Neman.

Before 1945 the population of Gaidszens resp. Drosselbruch almost without exception Protestant denomination. The village belonged to the parish of the church Szillen in the diocese of Ragnit in the parish of Tilsit-Ragnit within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today, Watutino is located in the catchment area of two Evangelical Lutheran congregations that were newly established in the 1990s in Sabrodino (Lesgewangminnen , 1938 to 1946 Lesgewangen) and Bolshakowo (Groß Skaisgirren , 1938 to 1946 Kreuzingen) , both of which are part of the Kaliningrad (Königsberg) provostry in the Evangelical Lutheran Church European Russia are.
