Bolschoje Selo ( Russian Большое Село , German  Unter Eißeln , 1938 to 1947 Untereißeln ) is a place in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Neman in Nemansky District .

Geographical location

Bolschoje Selo is seven kilometers east of the district town of Neman (Ragnit) on a side road that branches off the regional road 27A-025 (ex R508 ) near Gorino (formerly Garino, until 1938 Ober Eißeln , 1938 to 1947 Obereißeln) . There is no train connection.

Place name

The current name Bolshoye Selo means big village in Russian .

history

Bolshoye Selo was as Untereißeln before 1945 the largest village in the parish of the Church United Lenkeningken . It was and is an important tourist destination on the Memel (Russian: Neman).

The area of Unter Eißeln was settled long before the time of the order . Not far from the Memel, on the highest elevation of the village, on the Pallentschkallnis , there was a Prussian place of worship. The first settlements were probably the Aumemel district and the center of the village. The districts of Weide and Trakas ( dismantled from 1938 ) were not built on until after 1870/71.

Between 1874 and 1945 Unter Eißeln was incorporated into the district of Ober Eißeln (from 1939 "District of Obereißeln"). This belonged to the district of Ragnit until 1922 , then to the district of Tilsit-Ragnit in the administrative district of Gumbinnen in the Prussian province of East Prussia .

Before 1945, Unter Eißeln was a center for cargo ships . Of the 15 cargo ships owned by the shipowners on site, Max Plauschinat's “Vaterland” had escaped to the West and was still in service for many years.

On June 3 - with official confirmation of July 16 - in 1938 the spelling of the place name was officially set in "Untereißeln".

As a result of the Second World War , the place came in 1945 with northern East Prussia to the Soviet Union . In 1947 the village was given the Russian name Bolshoye Selo and at the same time became the seat of a village soviet. From 2008 to 2016 the place belonged to the urban municipality Nemanskoje gorodskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district Neman.

church

Before 1945, the population in Unter Eißeln or Untereißeln was almost without exception of Protestant denomination. Until 1897 the village belonged to the Ragnit Church , then to the parish of the Groß Lenkeningken Church (1938 to 1946: Großlenkenau, today in Russian: Lesnoje). Thus the village belonged to the diocese of Ragnit in the parish of Tilsit-Ragnit , which belonged to the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today Bolschoje Selo is located in the extensive catchment area of the newly established Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Sabrodino (Lesgewangminnen , 1938 to 1946 Lesgewangen) in the provost of Kaliningrad (Königsberg) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
