Kustowo ( Russian Кустово , German Klein Lenkeningken , 1938 to 1945 Kleinlenkenau , Lithuanian Mažieji Lenkininkai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Neman in Nemansky District .
Geographical location
Kustowo is ten kilometers east of the district town of Neman (Ragnit) north of the regional road 27A-025 (ex R508 ) in the direction of Krasnosnamensk (Lasdehnen / Haselberg) . There is no train connection.
history
The former Klein Lenkeningken was founded in 1837 as a forest colony. It was the second youngest of all the villages in the parish of Groß Lenkeningken (1938 to 1946: Großlenkenau) and before 1945 consisted of many scattered small farms.
In 1874 Klein Lenkeningken in the newly built was the district of Upper Eißeln (he was called in 1939 "District Obereißeln") incorporated, which existed until 1945 and until 1922 the county Ragnit , then to the district of Tilsit-Ragnit in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged . In 1938 the place was renamed "Kleinlenkenau".
As a result of the war, the village came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia in 1945 . He was given the Russian name "Kustowo" in 1947 and was at the same time classified in the Bolshesselski selski Sowet village soviet in Sovetsk Raion . From 2008 to 2016 Kustowo belonged to the urban municipality of Nemanskoje gorodskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Neman.

The population of Klein Lenkeningkens resp. Before 1945, Kleinkenaus was predominantly of Protestant denomination. Until 1897 the village belonged to the church in Ragnit , after which it was part of the newly established parish of the church Groß Lenkeningken (the place was called between 1938 and 1946: Großlenkenau, today in Russian: Lensoje) and thus belonged to the diocese of Ragnit in the church district of Tilsit-Ragnit within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today Kustowo is located in the extensive catchment area of the newly established Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Sabrodino (Lesgewangminnen , 1938 to 1946 Lesgewangen) . It is part of the Kaliningrad (Königsberg) provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
