Wolotschajewo ( Russian Волочаево , German  Raudonatschen , 1938 to 1945 Kattenhof ( Eastern Pr.) , Lithuanian Raudonaičiai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Neman in Nemansky District .

Geographical location

Volotschajewo is located 22 kilometers southeast of the district town of Neman (Ragnit) on the municipal road 27K-051, which connects the regional road 27A-033 (ex A198 ) at Schmeljowo (Warnen) with Malomoshaiskoje . There is no train connection.

history

The small Gutsdorf formerly called Raudonatschen was named after an administrative district on April 15, 1874 , which - after being renamed "Kattenhof District" on April 18, 1939 - existed until 1945. Until 1922 he belonged to the district of Ragnit , then to the district of Tilsit-Ragnit in the administrative district of Gumbinnen in the Prussian province of East Prussia . On June 3, 1938, the place was renamed "Kattenhof (Ostpr.)".

As a result of the war, the place came to the Soviet Union in 1945 with all of northern East Prussia . It was given the Russian name "Volotschajewo" in 1950 and was also included in the Luninski selski Sowet . Around 1997 the place came to the village district Uljanowski selski okrug . From 2008 to 2016 Volochayevo belonged to the rural municipality of Luninskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Neman.
