Akulowo ( Russian Акулово , German  Klein Neuhof-Ragnit , Lithuanian Ragainės Naujadvaris ) is a place in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . The place belongs to the municipal self-government unit urban district Neman in the Rajon Neman .

Geographical location

Akulowo is three kilometers west of Neman (Ragnit) and seven kilometers southeast of the city of Sowetsk (Tilsit) south of the regional road 27A-033 (ex A198 ) and can be reached from there via a feeder road. Until 1945 Girschunen was the next station on the Tilsit – Stallupönen railway line , which is no longer in operation today.

history

The place called Klein Neuhof-Ragnit before 1945 was only an insignificant place to live until the end of the Second World War . It consisted of an estate and a branch of the Remonteamt Neuhof-Ragnit , which was also called Groß Neuhof-Ragnit because of the distinction . The small Gutsdorf belonged to the Ragnit district (from 1922 to the Tilsit-Ragnit district ) in the Gumbinnen administrative district of the Prussian province of East Prussia .

In 1945 Klein Neuhof-Ragnit came with the rest of northern East Prussia to the Soviet Union . The place received the Russian name "Akulowo" in 1947 and was at the same time classified in the village soviet Petrowski selski Sowet in Sovetsk Raion , the later Rakitinski selski Sowet in Neman Raion. Later the place came to the village district Michurinski selski okrug . From 2008 to 2016 Akulowo belonged to the urban municipality of Nemanskoje gorodskoje posselenije and has since been part of the Neman district.

Before 1945 the population of Klein Neuhof-Ragnit was almost without exception of Protestant denomination.
