training

Qualifying
In qualifying, Barrichello secured pole position with a lap time of 1: 08.082 minutes . Ralf was second ahead of Michael Schumacher.
Warm up
In the warm-up, the Ferrari were again the fastest. Barrichello placed ahead of Michael Schumacher and Felipe Massa .
run
Michael Schumacher won the race in front of his teammate Barrichello and the Williams driver Montoya. Ralf Schumacher, Fisichella and Coulthard followed on the other points. Rubens Barrichello, who had led almost the entire race distance, had to let Schumacher pass on the instruction of team boss Jean Todt and finally did so, as in the previous year at the same point, shortly before the home straight. At the award ceremony that followed, Schumacher let Barrichello stand at the top of the podium while the German national anthem was played for the actual race winner, and then presented him with the trophy. While the Italian anthem was being played for the winning team, both Ferrari drivers were ultimately on the top podium. The FIA interpreted this as a violation of the protocol and fined Ferrari and its drivers with a fine of € 1,000,000. Ferrari could not be prosecuted for the stable order itself, but instructions to the drivers "that influence the outcome of a race" were forbidden from the following 2003 season.
