Partial connection point

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A partial junction ( TAS for short ) or a half junction (in Austria, HASt for short ) is a junction of a motorway or a motorway (motorway-like roads, expressway) , where you can only exit from one direction and only enter the motorway in one direction . This works for one directional lane (left or right-hand half-way) as well as for the motorway (from and to only one direction). The partial connections in the broader sense then include all other forms of irregular connections (only one connection or a missing connection). If the access road at a partial junction is also a motorway, it is called a motorway fork . As with full connections, the motorway feeder is an intermediate form as a short stretch of road with the character of a motorway.

There are several reasons for building a partial junction. Dense development or difficult terrain around the junction often prevent the construction of further connecting ramps . In other cases, a partial connection point is set up first and this is later expanded into a complete connection point. In this case, the partial connection point represents an intermediate expansion stage. Often half connections for one direction are supplemented by nearby half connections for the other direction (distributed full connection).

Motorway triangles and motorway junctions can also be designed in such a way that it is only possible to drive up and down in certain directions. One example is the Bordesholm motorway triangle .
