The 1967/68 season of the handball Bundesliga is the second of the double-track seasons in its history .

16 teams played in two seasons of eight teams each for the German championship in 1968. The leaders of the seasons North and South after the 14th match day competed in a final. The winner is German champion 1968. Newcomers to the new season were Berliner SV 92 , BSV Solingen 98 , Frisch Auf Göppingen and THW Kiel .

German champion 1968 was the first time in the club's history the winner of the south season, SG Leutershausen , which defeated the defending champion and winner of the north season, VfL Gummersbach . The Berliner SV 92 , the police SV Hannover , the TuS Neunkirchen and the VfL Bad Schwartau had to dismount .

Final of the German championship

The game for the German championship was played on March 23, 1968 between the winner of the North Staffel, VfL Gummersbach , and the winner of the South Staffel, SG Leutershausen , in front of about 5500 spectators in the Böblingen sports hall. The German handball champion in 1968 was the team of SG Leutershausen for the first time in the club's history, which defeated the team from VfL Gummersbach 20:13 (9: 6).
