The Hasengraben is a stream that flows through the northeastern districts of Leipzig and parts of Taucha . It is a right-hand tributary of the Parthe . In terms of water law, it is a second order body of water .

The Hasengraben runs roughly in a north-south direction. It starts at the Angerteich in Gottscheina at an overflow pipe and covers the first 50 meters with pipes. Apart from the pond overflow, the entire rainwater runoff from the town is integrated into the stream. After about 1.2 kilometers he changes from Leipzig to Taucha area. At kilometer 3 he passes the Merkwitz district of Taucha. From kilometer 3.5 it forms the border between Leipzig and Taucha for about one kilometer to the confluence with the Parthe.

The total length of the Hasengraben is 4.56 kilometers, of which 2.32 kilometers are the responsibility of Leipzig.

Landscape protection

Large stretches of the Hasengraben are lined with groups of trees and meadows. In its middle part it flows through the Endmöränenlandschaft protected landscape area between Taucha and Eilenburg, the last kilometer belongs to the Parthenaue-Machern protected landscape area .
