The Lösegraben is a brook through the northeastern districts of Leipzig and the area of the city of Taucha . It is a left tributary of the Parthe . In terms of water law, it is a second order body of water .

course

The Lösegraben begins its course on the Paunsdorf Feldflur north of the Paunsdorf Center and initially flows to the west. It turns to the northwest to the west of the Paunsdorf grove. Along the allotment garden association Waldessaum and the new development area Paunsdorf-Nord, it reaches the Heiterblickallee in a northerly direction, which it crosses under as well as the Portitzer Allee and the A14 motorway . Here he comes to the urban area of Taucha. After passing the B 87 , it forms the border between Taucha and Leipzig over a length of about one kilometer. At Seegeritz it flows into the Parthe.

The length of the trench is 5.83 kilometers, of which 3.22 km is in the city of Leipzig. Left tributaries are the Untere Gewändegraben, the Waldkerbelgraben and the Heiterblickgraben, on the right the Obere Gewändegraben and the Graben vom Fuchsberg.

function

Together with the Parthe, the Lösegraben drains significant parts of the north-east of Leipzig and Taucha and therefore plays an important role in regulating the water balance in the Paunsdorf- Heiterblick area . When it was used as a sewage ditch and partially filled in during the GDR era, the ditch lost its original function. From 1990 to 2001 the ditch was renatured .

In the city of Leipzig, the Lösegraben runs in the landscape protection area Paunsdorfer Wäldchen-Heiterblick, and with its surrounding area in the Green Arch Paunsdorf is also used for local recreation.
