The Lützschenaer Grenzgraben is a body of water in the north-west of Leipzig . In terms of water law, it is a second order body of water .
Surname
After Schkeuditz was ceded to Prussia by the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the border between Saxony and Prussia ran along the border ditch. Today it forms the north-western city boundary between Leipzig and Schkeuditz. The body of water is officially called Lützschenaer Grenzgraben , but it is also known as the northern border ditch or just as a border ditch .
course
The Lützschenaer Grenzgraben begins north of Schkeuditz and Lützschena on the edge of cultivated fields. After initially being flat along the fields, it cuts deeper into the terrain from the crossing of the Halle-Leipzig railway line and the B 6 federal highway . It then runs parallel to the Modelwitz district of Schkeuditz, crosses the Äußere Leipziger Straße and flows into the White Elster at Modelwitzer Steg.
It is fed by the rainwater north of Schkeuditz. Most of the year there is hardly any water flowing through it, but it can swell massively in heavy rain.
The border ditch flows in a canalised and straightened bed, which is partly stone or concrete.
