As part of the formerly independent municipality of Deilinghofen, Hembecke has been part of the town of Hemer since January 1, 1975 .

Hembecke is located in the southwest of Deilinghofen. It borders the villages of Dieken and Grüntal in the former municipality of Sundwig in the west and Deilinghofen, Hohenstein and Langenbruch in the east. In the south, the settlement forms the border with the Balver Forest . Not far from Hembecke is the Osterloh elevation (432 meters above sea level).
