Rottmecke

As part of the formerly independent municipality of Ihmert, Rottmecke has been part of the town of Hemer in North Rhine-Westphalia since January 1, 1975 . The settlement is located in a wooded area between Im Hasberg in the west and Heppingsen in the east.

The first settlement of the Rottmecke goes back to the 1780s, when the first house was built. In 1885 the settlement finally had 14 inhabitants. With its components rod / red, the name refers to a swamp area and complains about a mountain, so that it can be assumed that the area used to be a very water-rich mountain.
