As part of the formerly independent municipality of Westig, Westigerbach has been part of the municipality since the Prussian territorial reforms in 1929, and since 1936 of the town of Hemer in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Westigerbach lies between the villages of Westig in the north, Wiehagen in the north-west and Bredenbruch in the south. The settlement extends along the L 683 and is located on the Westiger Bach , which flows into the Sundwiger Bach in Oberhemer and forms the Oese with it.

In Westigerbach, the Giese company premises were, among other things, Hemer's largest wire mill. After the company went bankrupt , several other companies moved to the factory premises.
