Hüingsen has been part of the town of Hemer in North Rhine-Westphalia since the municipal reorganization that came into force on January 1, 1975 . The settlement previously belonged to the independent Ihmert municipality , which it had taken over from Evingsen on January 1, 1969 .

Hüingsen is located in the extreme southeast of the city on the border with the neighboring cities of Balve in the east, Neuenrade in the southeast and Altena in the south. In the Hemeraner urban area, Hüingsen is surrounded by Heidermühle in the northeast, Stodt and Heide in the north and Schwarzpaul in the west.
