Wenhagen has been part of the formerly independent municipality of Sundwig since the Prussian territorial reforms in 1929 and has been part of the town of Hemer in North Rhine-Westphalia since 1936 .

Wenhagen lies between the villages of Sundwig in the north and west and Dieken in the east. In the south the settlement borders on the Balver Forest .
