As part of the formerly independent municipality of Frönsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia, Heppingserbach has been part of the city of Hemer since January 1, 1975 .

Heppingserbach is located in the Stephanopel valley in the southeast of the city, between Ispei in the north and Heppingsen in the south. Other neighboring settlements are Beckmerhagen , Rohland and Ebberg . Heppingserbach is located on the southeastern slope of the Lohberg (473 meters above sea level) on the stream of the same name, which crosses the Hemeraner urban area as an Oese and flows into the Hönne in Menden .
