Since the municipal reorganization , which came into force on January 1, 1975, Stodt has been a district of the town of Hemer in North Rhine-Westphalia . The settlement previously belonged to the independent Ihmert municipality , which it had taken over from Evingsen on January 1, 1969 .

Stodt is located in the southeast of the city and is part of the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park . The settlement is surrounded by the villages of Heide in the north, Heidermühle in the east, Hüingsen in the south and Schwarzpaul in the west.

In economic terms, the settlement is characterized by agriculture and forestry.
