Bill Hoskyns

Henry William Furse "Bill" Hoskyns (born March 19, 1931 in London , † August 4, 2013 in North Perrott , Somerset ) was a British fencer and world champion.

He took part in six Olympic Games from 1956 to 1976 in a row and competed with the epee , the foil and the saber .

Bill Hoskyns took fourth place with the Degen team at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne. In 1958 he was individual world champion with the sword in Philadelphia . At the Olympic Games in Rome, Hoskyns received silver with the epee team and finished seventh in the foil singles. At the Olympic Games in Tokyo he received silver in the epee singles. In 1965 he won silver in the epee singles at the World Championships in Paris. He also won numerous medals at the Commonwealth Games : he won gold medals nine times in the individual or with the team, and he also won silver once in the foil individual. He was British champion from 1956 to 1958 and 1967 with the sword, 1966 with the saber and 1959, 1964 and 1970 with the foil.
