The home venue is the Ludwig-Jahn Stadium .

history

Early Years (1953 to 1990)

In 1953 the HSV Borussia Friedenstal was founded in the Böke restaurant. After a fun game, a women's soccer team was formed in 1969 under the direction of Fritz Böke and Doris Henschel. Horst Hebrock became the first trainer. Official gaming operations began four years later. Due to a defeat in the last game against Löhne , promotion to the district league was missed. Rolf Gießelmann took over the team. At the same time, a girls' team was founded. In 1975 they made it to the district league. Just three years later, the runner-up made the leap into the national league , the top division at the time.

In 1980 they reached the final in the Westphalia Cup . Against TSV Siegen they lost on penalties . A year later, the Herford women qualified as runner-up behind FC Schalke 04 for the newly founded Association League Westphalia . The team also qualified third behind Siegen and Schalke for the Regionalliga West, which was launched in 1985 . After only going uphill so far, there has now been a setback. For internal reasons the team withdrew and made a fresh start in the association league. The direct resurgence was missed. In 1989 Birgit Schmidt became a player-coach.

Path to the Bundesliga (1990 to 2008)

In 1993 the Herford women were able to regain promotion to the regional league and only managed to stay in the league in the last few games in the following season. In 1996 the HSV had to relegate again. The following association league season ended undefeated as champions. Back in the regional league, the team was able to establish itself and reached third place in the 1997/98 season. The Westphalia Cup was won for the first time in 2000 under the new trainer Elke Jackisch. The final against SV Brackel 06 was won 3-1. This was the first time the Herford women qualified for the DFB Cup , where the team first beat SV Neuenbrook 5-0 and then lost 5-1 to WSV Wolfsburg in the round of 16 .

A year later it was the last sixteen in the DFB Cup. After a bye in the first round , the 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam made it 10-0 for the Herford women to lose. In 2004 HSV missed the qualification for the newly created 2nd Bundesliga . On the last matchday against SG Lütgendortmund the qualification was missed. Two years later, after catching up, the team became champions of the Regionalliga West and made it into the 2nd Bundesliga for the first time. In the 2006/07 season , the team finished eighth. The highlight was the 1-0 win in the derby over FC Gütersloh 2000 .

In the following 2007/08 season , the club initially wanted to be number one in Ostwestfalen-Lippe and played for the championship in the spring. On the last day of the match, the team secured the championship and promotion to the Bundesliga with a 2-1 win over the second team of Hamburger SV and the simultaneous 1: 1 of FC Gütersloh 2000 against the second team of 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam. Marie Pollmann was the top scorer in the 2nd Bundesliga North with 21 goals .

Elevator years (since 2008)

After only one year, the Herford SV rose again as the penultimate , but the club was able to achieve the third highest average attendance in the league. The club was largely able to hold the team together and achieved direct promotion in the 2009/10 season . The team remained undefeated during the season and already achieved promotion after 17 of 22 game days. In the Bundesliga season 2010/11 the team had no chance. Trainer Tanja Schulte was dismissed in October 2010 and replaced by Jürgen Prüfer . Nevertheless, the Herford women were already relegated five game days before the end of the season. The 4-2 win against SC 07 Bad Neuenahr was the only triple point win for the Herford women.

In 2013 the Herford women were runner-up in the 2nd Bundesliga North behind BV Cloppenburg and once again set the top scorer in the league with Anna Laue , who scored 22 goals this season. A year later , HSV was again runner-up. Since the 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam II was not allowed to rise as champions, the Herford women achieved their third promotion to the Bundesliga. But again the challengers had no chance and rose again with only five points as the bottom of the table . The low point of the season was a 10:10 defeat at VfL Wolfsburg . After a turbulent season in which the long-time President Birgit Schmidt resigned, Herford finally came in fourth . Giustina Ronzetti was the top scorer with 23 goals. Trainer Jürgen Prüfer was on leave on April 1, 2016 and was replaced by Daniel Hollensteiner.

In the 2016/17 season , the Herford women slipped to third from last place. The team was only able to keep the class through the voluntary withdrawal of the third from bottom of the south group SC Sand II . A year later , the challengers were relegated from bottom of the table. The team lost 1:11 at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach and away at SV Meppen 0:12. During the Regionalliga season 2019/20 , the club declared its voluntary withdrawal to the Westphalia League . The regional league would be "neither sporty nor economically feasible" for the club.
