Hot Jazz Club (Münster)
The Hot Jazz Club is a jazz club in Münster in Westphalia . It was opened in May 2000 by Hucky Herzig and Marcial Dos Santos on the part of the city's inland port that had been converted for cultural purposes . Christian Huys has been the club's operator since 2005.
Michael Teich was responsible for the program planning in the Hot Jazz Club until 2006. In the first few years, musicians such as Randy Brecker , Al Foster , Larry Coryell , Archie Shepp , Lou Donaldson , tok tok tok , Benny Bailey , Bernard Allison and Paul Kuhn performed there.
From 2006 to 2019 Martin Peitz was responsible for the musical selection and press work. In addition to traditional jazz and blues concerts , styles such as funk , soul , rock , pop , reggae , ska , world music and electronic music have been expanding the musical program since 2006 .
As part of the “Newcomer Stage” series, the next generation is also promoted. School and school big bands are regularly given the opportunity to perform in public in their own series of events.
At the annual Hafenfest in Münster, the Hot Jazz Club, in cooperation with the MS Hafen eV association, designs the musical program of the jazz stage. The Hot Jazz Club is also involved in the planning for the "Münster mittendrin" city festival .
Christian Huys, the owner of the "Hot Jazz Club", was a guest on the TV show Lokalzeit Münsterland on April 28, 2020 and, because of the Covid-19 pandemic , called for the entertainment tax to be abolished and the value added tax to be reduced on drinks.
