IC 4526 is an irregular galaxy of Hubble type in the constellation Bootes the northern sky . It is an estimated 615 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 75,000 ly.IC 4526 is an apparent companion galaxy of NGC 5829 and forms the object Arp 42 , as well as the Hickson Compact Group 73 with PGC 53702 , PGC 53703 and PGC 53720 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 4531 , IC 4532 , IC 4534 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on July 25, 1903 .
