Career

Compher initially spent his junior years from 2011 to 2013 in the National Team Development Program of the US ice hockey association USA Hockey , for which he played nationally in the United States Hockey League for the following two seasons , but also represented internationally. At the end of his two-year engagement in the development program there, he was selected in the second round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft in 35th place by the Buffalo Sabers from the National Hockey League . The attacker initially enrolled at the University of Michigan and studied for the next three years. At the same time, he played for the college's ice hockey team in the Big Ten Conference , a division in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . There he found himself in the All-Rookie Team and Second All-Star Team of the division at the end of the 2013/14 season. In addition, he was named Rookie of the Year , for which he had collected 31 scorer points in 35 games .

After his sophomore year in college gaming operations, in which his offensive production had declined slightly, Compher was part of a transfer business in which his NHL rights changed hands. At the end of June 2015, the Buffalo Sabers gave the striker to the Colorado Avalanche along with Nikita Sadorow , Michail Grigorenko and a second-round vote in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft . In return, Jamie McGinn and Ryan O'Reilly moved to Buffalo. The Avalanche also left Compher in the 2015/16 season at college, where he won the division title of the Big Ten Conference with the University of Michigan. In addition, the attacker received appointments to the First All-Star Team of the division and the West Second All-American Team of the entire NCAA.

In April 2016 - after completing his studies - Compher was finally hired by the Colorado Avalanche for a three-year entry-level contract . They used him at the beginning of the 2016/17 season with the San Antonio Rampage , the Avalanche farm team in the American Hockey League . There he spent his first professional playing time until the beginning of March 2017, before he was appointed to the NHL squad of the Denver team and made his debut there. At this point he had scored 30 points in 41 AHL games. As a result, Compher established himself at the Avalanche in the NHL.
