James William Trimble (1965)

James William Trimble (born February 3, 1894 in Osage , Carroll County , Arkansas , † March 10, 1972 in Eureka Springs , Arkansas) was an American politician and represented the state of Arkansas in the US House of Representatives as a Democrat . His term of office lasted from 1945 to 1967.

Career

James William Trimble was born on February 3, 1894 in the small town of Osage, where he also attended public school. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1917 . He was admitted to the bar in 1925 and then opened a practice in Berryville .

During the First World War he served in the US Army as a private and was assigned to the Adjutant General's Office in Little Rock . After the war, he worked as a civil servant in Carroll County between 1920 and 1928. Trimble then became a District Attorney for the Arkansas Fourth Jurisdiction. He carried out this activity from 1930 to 1938. In the period after that he worked as a judge at the same court. He worked there until 1944.

Trimble was then elected a Democrat in the 79th and ten subsequent conventions. He worked there between January 3, 1945 and January 3, 1967. During his time in Congress, he was Chairman of the Special Committee on Chamber Improvements (81st and 82nd Congresses). He lost the 1966 general election to Republican John Paul Hammerschmidt from Harrison , making him the first Democrat since the Reconstruction to be defeated by a Republican in a congressional election. After his defeat, he returned to Berryville.

James William Trimble died on March 10, 1972 in Eureka Springs. He was buried in Berryville Memorial Park in Berryville.
