Stephen Allen "Steve" Womack (born February 18, 1957 in Russellville , Arkansas ) is an American politician . Since 2011 he has represented the state of Arkansas in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Steve Womack graduated from Russellville High School in 1973 and Arkansas Tech University there in 1979 . Between 1979 and 2009 he served in his state's National Guard. He also worked as a radio station manager. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In 1983 and 1984, and again from 1997 to 1998, he was a member of the Rogers Town Council. From 1999 to 2010 he was mayor there.

In the congressional elections of 2010, Womack was the third electoral district of Arkansas in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he succeeded the in the 3 January 2011 US Senate exchanged John Boozman took. In Congress , he sits on the Grants Committee and three sub-committees. He is a member of two Congressional Caucuses and is a member of the conservative Republican Study Committee within the party .

In the midterm elections in 2012 Griffin had no rival candidates. In 2014 and 2016 he was also confirmed in his office. This means that he can presumably remain in Congress until January 3, 2019. He also has the option of running again.
