Je'Kel Reshar Foster (born July 22, 1983 in Natchez , Mississippi ) is an American basketball player . In 2009 Foster won the German championship with EWE Baskets Oldenburg and in 2013 with Alba Berlin the German league cup competition BBL-Pokal 2013 . He played a total of 199 Bundesliga games.

Career

Foster began his studies at Howard Junior College in Big Spring, Texas . After a year, his basketball coach Chris Jans moved to Chipola Junior College in Marianna (Florida) and took Foster with him. For further studies, Foster then moved to Ohio State University , where he played for the college team Buckeyes in the NCAA for two years until 2006.

After his time with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Foster was not selected in the 2006 NBA draft and instead signed a contract with German first division club EnBW Ludwigsburg. There he was considered one of the most important players in his team, which also played a great 2006/07 season thanks to him . In recognition of this, he was appointed to the southern selection for the All-Star game and was voted BBL Newcomer of the Year .

Foster was a player who can successfully hit throws in a row from all positions if he has found his throwing rhythm. In addition, his employers value Foster's leadership and work ethic. After a season in the French LNB Pro A , in which he and his team Paris-Levallois were relegated to the top of the league table, penultimate, he returned to the German basketball league and won with the EWE Baskets from Oldenburg in the 2008/09 season the German championship . In the last seconds of the fifth and decisive game of the play-off finals series against Telekom Baskets Bonn , Foster managed a steal that ultimately decided the game and thus the championship in favor of Oldenburg with 71:70.

In the 2009/10 season , the defending champion EWE Baskets moved into the play-offs as first in the main round, but surprisingly lost in four games in the first round against the Phantoms Braunschweig . In the 2010/11 season, Foster was then active in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A for Vanoli-Braga from Cremona , which, however, missed the play-offs for the championship. For the 2011/12 season , the ambitious first division promoted FC Bayern Munich brought him back to Germany. But even this was eliminated with Foster in the first play-off round for the championship.

Before the start of the season of the following season, FC Bayern Munich announced that it had given Foster a termination without notice, as he had repeatedly appeared on non-mandatory dates despite being requested to do so. As a result, Foster joined the Belgian runner-up Spirou BC Charleroi . After Vule Avdalović was injured , Foster was brought back to the German Bundesliga by Alba Berlin in mid-December 2012. In front of a home crowd, they won the 2013 BBL Cup in 2013 , but were eliminated early in the championship in the first play-off round, although they were the most successful German team in the highest European club competition ULEB Euroleague 2012/13 .

For the following season 2013/14 Foster went back to France, where he signed a contract with the reigning champions "Jeunesse sportive des Fontenelles" from Nanterre , where he played again with his former Berlin teammate Ali Traoré . After leaving the ULEB Euroleague 2013/14 , Foster's contract ended at the end of the year and he was signed by the Italian first division club Sidigas from Avellino at the beginning of February 2014 , for which he completed twelve appearances, but made it into the play-offs for the twelfth place missed Italian championship. After a short detour in Lebanon within the scope of FIBA Asia at Homenetmen from Beirut , Foster joined the German first division club BBC medi from Bayreuth in January 2015 , with whom he finished 16th and third from bottom at the end of the 2014/15 basketball Bundesliga thus achieved relegation.

In the 2015/16 season, Foster played professionally in South America for the first time and was active in ten games for the Guaros from Barquisimeto in the state of Lara in Venezuela . While the Guaros won the title in the FIBA Liga de las Américas in March 2016, Foster had previously moved to the Spanish ACB league to ICL Bàsquet from Manresa . With the Catalans , he reached only the 16th and third from last place in the table in 13 appearances, but again enough to keep the league in the top Spanish league. Foster then moved to Angola on the African continent , where he played for the Clube Recreativo Desportivo (CRD) from Libolo from 2016 to 2018 . After his compatriot Jason Cain , with whom Foster never played, he is the second former Bundesliga professional who also played in Bayreuth and later in Angola.
