history

The Church of St. Mauritius

The place was first mentioned by name in the fief book of the Hochstift Würzburg , which must have originated between 1303 and 1317, as "Kestal". At that time Konrad von Pahres was the fiefdom holder. Under the Würzburg bishop Gottfried III. von Hohenlohe (1317-1322) passed this fiefdom to Johannes von Pahres. As a result, the place fell to the Burgraviate of Nuremberg , and finally to the Margraviate of Brandenburg-Kulmbach . 1421 received Michael von Seckendorff zu Rennhofen a. a. in "Kerstal" estates and the tithe of Margrave Friedrich I. to fief. From the Margravial Salbuch from 1434 it emerges that a quarter of the tithe in “Kerstall” belonged to the margraviate and three quarters to the Michelsberg monastery . The latter gave in 1464 Moritz Auracher of Dachsbach in "Kerstal" a Hube , two and a half fief and a pond. In 1502/06 its possession was given in "Cestel" with four goods. The place belonged to the Fraisch of the margravial office Dachsbach. In 1718 there was only one subject from Brandenburg-Bayreuth. The others were subordinate to the Bamberg Cathedral Monastery, the Birnbaum Manor and the Imperial City of Nuremberg .

At the end of the 18th century there were ten properties in Kästel. The high court and the village and community rule exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth caste and jurisdiction office Dachsbach . The landlords were the Lordship of Wilhermsdorf (1 estate), the parish of Gerhardshofen (1 estate), the cathedral chapter of Bamberg (5 estates), the manor Sichardshof (2 estates) and the manor Herrnneuses (1 estate).

In 1810 Kästel joined the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, Kästel was assigned to the Dachsbach tax district in 1811 . In 1813 it was assigned to the tax district and the rural community of Birnbaum . With the second community edict (1818), the rural community Kästel was formed, to which the places Emelsdorf , Linden and Sintmannsbuch belonged. It was subordinate to the regional court Neustadt an der Aisch in administration and jurisdiction and in the financial administration to the Rentamt Neustadt an der Aisch (renamed in 1920 to Finanzamt Neustadt an der Aisch ). However, until 1839 one property was subject to the voluntary jurisdiction of the Wilhermsdorf Patrimonial Court . From 1862 Kästel was administered by the Neustadt an der Aisch district office ( renamed Neustadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Neustadt an der Aisch until 1879, from 1880 district court Neustadt an der Aisch . The municipality had an area of 6,850 km².

On July 1, 1971, Kästel was incorporated into Gerhardshofen as part of the regional reform .
