The canton of Lemberg ( French canton de Lemberg ) was a canton in the Moselle department that existed from 1790 to 1801 .

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "District Bitsch".

In 1802 the canton was dissolved. Its communities are divided between the cantons of Bitche and Rohrbach .

geography

The canton was located in the southern part of the Bitscher Ländchen ( Pays de Bitche ) . The highest point was at Sarreinsberg (today Goetzenbruck ) with 432 m, the lowest place Mouterhouse with 212 m.

With the exception of Lambach , Mouterhouse and Siersthal , this canton is congruent with the former Communauté de communes du Pays du Verre et du Cristal (German association of glass and crystal land ).
