history
Katzdorf was first mentioned in writing in 1156 under the name Chadoldisdorf. In 1308 it appeared with the name Chaezleindorf. A cat's coat of arms is placed in the church. Possibly the name Katzdorf goes back to the line of the Chadoldisdorf also: Kadoltersdorfer or Kadolterstorfer or also Chätzelsdorfer or Katzelstorffer. Another interpretation derives the name Katzdorf from Chodendorf and assumes an early Slavic settlement.
Katzdorf was owned by the Katzelstorf family until the end of the 16th century. In 1590 Andre Oesterreicher is named as the owner of Katzdorf. In the following decades the owners of Katzdorf changed frequently.
On March 23, 1913, Katzdorf was a branch church of the parish of Neunburg vorm Wald, consisted of 18 houses and had 108 inhabitants.
In 1946 the former municipality of Katzdorf was incorporated into Mitteraschau. The municipality of Mitteraschau, in turn, was incorporated into the city of Neunburg vorm Wald as part of the regional reform .
On December 31, 1990, Katzdorf had 80 inhabitants and was a branch church of the parish of Neunburg vorm Wald.
