history

Kloschwitz was probably settled in the 8th century, but was first mentioned in a document as Closwicz in 1264 . The place name is of Slavic origin and means place of grain . A manor in Kloschwitz was mentioned in 1317 with Nicolaus von Closewitz . This was a castle complex. The local church dates from the 13th century. Regarding the manorial belonged Kloschwitz to the 19th century in proportion to the manors Rößnitz , Leubnitz and Kloschwitz and as office Village for Office Plauen . The Kloschwitz manor belonged to the Counts of Eberstein after the Lords of Closewitz . After the Reformation , the von Reibold family and from 1725 the von Beulwitz family owned the Kloschwitz manor. They were followed by a Mrs. von Naundorff from 1785 to 1818 and by Mr. Koder around 1840. It was then owned by a Hager family around 1860 and Fritz Poetzsch from 1925. The Kloschwitz manor was divided up in 1937 after it was acquired by the Saxon farmers' settlement in 1930. The mannel family, who owns it to this day, bought the rest of the estate.

In the 19th century there was a boys' school in Kloschwitz, the Grundmann Institute , in which 398 students were prepared for further education in 30 years. Its director, Karl Friedrich Grundmann, was born on May 11, 1793 in Plauen . The son of poor weavers was able to study at the Plauen Lyceum with the help of sponsors and then study theology in Leipzig . After taking over the parish in Kloschwitz in 1818, he founded the Grundmann Institute in the parish buildings of Kloschwitz in the same year . In this Progymnasium , which had a very good reputation, the boys were instructed in German, Latin, Greek, French and sports up to the Unterterita or Obertertia . The student population was initially 2 to 3, later there were an average of 10 to 12 students who paid 120 thalers for lessons including boarding and boarding. The students came u. a. from German aristocratic families like von Beulwitz , von Feilitzsch and von Tümpling , but also from abroad, e.g. B. from Olomouc , London or Birmingham . As the Grundmannsche Anstalt grew, new buildings soon had to be built. In addition, the inn was converted into teacher's apartments, classrooms and a large prayer room. A total of 29 teachers taught in the institute, plus the church school teachers from the area. After Pastor Grundmann died on December 17, 1850, training at the famous boys' institute was discontinued at Easter 1851. The buildings were partially destroyed in the village fire in 1877. Today a plaque in front of the old parish commemorates Karl Friedrich Grundmann. An exhibition about the Grundmann Institute is in the parish hall of the parish building.

Until 1856 Kloschwitz belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Plauen . In 1856 the place was affiliated with the Plauen court office and in 1875 with the Plauen administration . As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Kloschwitz became part of Plauen-Land in the Chemnitz district (renamed Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Plauen from 1990 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996. On January 1st, 1999 Kloschwitz was incorporated into Weischlitz.
