Laura Hottenrott (born May 14, 1992 in Kassel ; born Laura Hottenrott-Freitag ) is a German middle and long-distance runner .

Career

Laura Hottenrott was born in 1992 as the daughter of the former national coach Kuno Hottenrott and grew up in the Kassel district of Bad Wilhelmshöhe . She has a six years younger brother (Fabian) and graduated from the Jacob-Grimm-Schule in 2011 with advanced courses in mathematics and geography. Until 2016 she studied biology at Boston College in the USA .

Although she ran the second fastest time over 5000 meters (15: 47.28 min) behind Sabrina Mockenhaupt (15: 35.75 min) in 2015 , Hottenrott was not able to win the European Cross Country Championship in Toulon due to not taking part in the nomination races in Europe. Hyères (France) nominated.

She is trained by her father Kuno, a sports scientist and university professor. She started for LG Baunatal-Fuldabrück until the end of 2012, since 2013 for GSV Eintracht Baunatal and since 2018 for TV Wattenscheid 01 .

In February 2018, she was able to increase her personal best time at the Seville Marathon to 2:33:01 h and thus once again remained below the team norm for the European Marathon Cup, which will be held in Berlin in August as part of the European Championships . It was nominated by the German Athletics Association (DLV) for the European Cup as part of the European Athletics Championships 2018 .

At her third start at the largest New Year's Eve run in Germany, the New Year's Eve run from Werl to Soest , Laura was able to win for the third time in 2019 and improved the course record to 51:00 min. The previous record was from 1993 at 51:12 min.

In February 2020, Hottenrott had clearly undercut the DLV standard for the European Half Marathon Championships and the World Half Marathon Championships at the Barcelona Half Marathon and she was nominated by the association for the 2020 World Half Marathon Championships.
