The Olympic Stadium in Helsinki

The women's 100-meter hurdles at the 2012 European Athletics Championships took place on June 29 and 30, 2012 in the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital Helsinki .

In this competition, the runners from Belarus won a double victory. Alina Talaj became European champion . Second place went to Kazjaryna Paplauskaja . Bronze went to the Austrian Beate Schrott .

The European Championship record, which has existed since 1986 , was nowhere near reached at these European championships.

doping

There was also a doping case in the hurdles sprint. The Turkish defending champion Nevin Yanıt , who initially won the competition, was subsequently disqualified on June 30, 2015 for doping abuse and suspended for two years.

The main victims were four athletes:

• Alina Talaj , Belarus - She was only later declared European champion.
• Beate Schrott , Austria - She only received her bronze medal afterwards and was unable to attend the award ceremony.
• Eline Berings , Belgium or Lucie Škrobáková , Czech Republic - one of them would have been entitled to take part in the final for their time. Both had achieved 13.17 seconds in different semifinals. The better time after thousandths of a second would have decided.
• Nooralotta Neziri , Finland - She could have entered the semi-finals via the time rule.

Preliminary round

Elisa Leinonen was fifth in her lead, missing twelve hundredths of a second from participating in the semi-finals

The preliminary round was held in four runs. The first three athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the four fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the semi-finals.
