The 400-meter race of the men at the 2014 European Athletics Championships was from 12 to 15 August 2014 at the Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich held.
In this competition there was a double victory for the British runners. Martyn Rooney became European champion . Matthew Hudson-Smith took second place. The Israeli sprinter Donald Sanford won the bronze medal.

doping
There was a doping case in this competition:
The Russian Maxim Dyldin , who was eliminated in the semifinals, was banned for four years by the International Sports Court from January 6, 2017 , due to a missed doping test . His results at the 2012 Olympics and later have been canceled.
One athlete in particular suffered more:
The Belgian Julien Watrin , who had been eliminated in the preliminary run, would have been eligible to start in the semifinals.

The preliminary round was carried out in five runs. The first four athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the four fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the semifinals.
