The women's 400-meter hurdles at the 1999 World Athletics Championships took place from 23 to 25 August 1999 in the Olympic Stadium in the Spanish city ​​of Seville .

The Cuban Daimí Pernía became world champion . Moroccan defending champion Nezha Bidouane won the silver medal, just a hundredth of a second behind . Bronze went to 1996 Olympic champion Deon Hemmings from Jamaica , who won silver at the 1997 World Championships and bronze in 1995 . As a member of the Jamaican 4 x 400 meter relay , she was also a 1997 World Cup bronze medalist.
